What is Belfast Lough Sailability…?

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

Belfast Lough Sailability was established in September 2001 and received charitable status in May 2002.  It evolved out of the Carrickfergus Waterfront Disabled Sailing Project and is an accredited RYA centre for Sailability.

Most people will have passed an inland lake, a reservoir, an estuary or the sea and recall seeing sailing boats of all shapes and sizes dotting the water.  They may have asked themselves:

Could I do that…?

How do I go about doing that…?

Belfast Lough Sailability has the answers!!

Based at Carrickfergus Waterfront, Belfast Lough Sailability has specially adapted boats and equipment to enable people with all ranges of abilities to enjoy and experience the thrill of sailing.

Is it fun…?

Sailing is a fun activity for all whether 8 or 80.  It is also a great family and social activity enjoyed by many.

Is it safe…?

The Charity provides safe and enjoyable sailing opportunities under skilled tuition to people with a disability interested in experiencing the sport of sailing.

Assisted by competent sailors, beginners can partake in sailing on Belfast Lough.  Waterproof clothing and safety equipment is provided to ensure the experience is a safe and pleasurable one.
