The Access Dinghy
The Access Dinghy’s uniqueness comes from several original design features:
1. a roller reefing system, enabling the sailor to adjust the size of the sail to suit various conditions while under way;
2. a ballasted centreboard, ensuring the dinghy is difficult to capsize;
3. the hull design - innovative concave hull shape promotes additional stability;
4. it is sailed by either one or two people seated low down in the boat instead of leaning over the side to gain stability;
The Access Dinghy has really proved its worth for us this season.
Dispite the best efforts of the instructors to purposely capsize the dinghy we haven’t been able to do it.
We are so pleased at how easy and fun it is to sail that we have managed to obtain funding for another two. If we can we would like at least another two or three, we could then introduce even more disabled people to the delights of sailing and even introduce some competition for our sailors as they become more competent.
