Our Fleet

Belfast Lough Sailbility’s ‘fleet’ currently consists of 2 Squibs, and as of December 2007, 3 Access dinghies.

The Squib dinghies “Boxmore” and “Chesapeake” were gifted to Carrickfergus Waterfront Disabled Sailing Project, the forerunner of Belfast Lough Sailability, and have served us well over the years. However, they require quite a lot of maintenance to keep them up to scratch. Belfast Lough Sailability organises a number of work party’s over the year to carry out this essential maintenance and are always keen to recruit new pairs of hands to help with this work.

The first Access dinghy is as yet un-named and was purchased second hand by Belfast Lough Sailability from our friends on the Isle of Man.

The Access is a craft specifically designed with the disabled person in mind. It is ‘dry sailed’ meaning it is put into the water and lifted out for each sailing session.

The Access dinghy has proved so successful. We are really pleased to have been so well supported that we were able to order dinghys two and three.

Its time we gave them names, any suggestions?
